PINNACLE MOUNTAIN NAVIGATION COURSE

Pinnacle Mountain Navigation Course 1 with Key:

This course is designed around fixed objects within Pinnacle Mountain State Park . The key to using this course is to have one person plot the points and navigate them while the other uses the “key” to determine if they have reached the point. Using both at once gives away the checkpoint and makes it too easy to find. If using with a group, have each team write in the space provided what they found at the location, then verify when they return to the start area.

The course is initially designed to be used from the West side parking area, with the large fields. The start coordinates are at the bathrooms.

You may want to start anywhere in the area to make it interesting, or even mix up the checkpoints for a harder and longer course.

This is set from a 1:24000 NAD27 Datum map of the Pinnacle Mountain Quad. These are available from the USGS.
